How do Horbury!
I have a challenge for you. How can you refuse me? There will be a slice of cake in it for you. I need five willing people. “Why?”, I can here you ask.
On Sunday the 26th of November we are hosting our first ever ‘What Makes Horbury?’ event. You should know all about that already. If you don’t, have al look at one of our previous bulletins to find out what all the excitement is about. However, we have some breaking news about an additional ‘add on’ event that is going to take place at 4.30pm on the same day. The event is called, ‘Bettakultcha’ and this is how you can be part of it.
‘Bettakultcha’ is a presentation where willing folk get to talk for five minutes on a given theme with slides and a projector. That all sounds very simple doesn’t it? However there are rules, very strict rules that make the presentation really fun and challenging. The rules are…
- You must use twenty slides
- Each slide is projected on to the screen for 15 seconds (they automatically roll over, you have no control!)
- Your presentation must not include any sales pitches (Bettakultcha is not about promoting yout business, yourself or any other organisation).
For the event we are holding on the 26th, we would like your presentations to be on the following themes.
- Stories from Horbury
- Memories are Made of This
- Is there intelligent life in Horbury?
- Legends
- The Importance of Failure
Here is the technical bit. Your slides have to be formatted in a Powerpoint presentation with an aspect ratio of 4-3 (not widescreen). This may sound complicated, but it’s not.
If you want to be one of the five Horbury folk to do this, can register your interest send your brilliant slide presentations to Ivor Tymchak (some of you may already know him, he is a Horbury resident) and he will make sure everything is in order, then all you have to do is work on your presentation. What fun it will be. Ivor’s email address is ivor@tymchak.com.
Still confused? Well, this will help you further. Here are some brilliant videos of Bettakultcha in action that explains how it all works.
