Hope that you are all well and looking forward to the weekend. Are you doing anything relaxing to unwind from the stresses of the working week? We hope so, downtime is so precious and if we don’t make the most of our own time it can have a negative effect on our health. So take it easy when you can.
Talking of our wellbeing, next Tuesday, the 10th of October is World Mental Health Day. It's a day of focusing on how we are feeling within ourselves, and to reach out to others who may be struggling with issues that they find it difficult to cope with. These days, mental health is getting the much welcomed prominence that perhaps it should have always had. One in four people in the world will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives (World Health Organisation 2017). That is an astonishing figure and one we should all be concerned about.
We at the Cluntergate are thrilled the brilliant Catch A Falling Star: Wakefield Adult Mental Health Support Group will host a Cabaret event to celebrate all our respective mental health issues next Friday the 13th October (don’t be afraid of the date, if you are, may we suggest therapy!). The event is called ‘It's Good to Talk’ and it starts at 5.45pm. The night will feature live music, poetry and comedy from some of our city’s brightest talents and it will be a fantastic occasion. The event is not ticketed and is free. However, a recommended donation of £3 to ‘Catch a Falling Star’ would be really welcome. You can even bring your own alcohol and pop too. There will Julie's cake and tea and coffee as usual. It could not be a more perfect way to unwind on a Friday night
There is even a rumour that I will be performing a poem or two. You’ll be completely mad to miss that!
Hope to see you here.
All the best,
Ralph
