Dear hirer and user of the Cluntergate Centre.
We would like to thank you for your support of the Cluntergate Centre. Your contribution has helped make the building such a resounding success.
It has been a long term ambition of the trustees of the centre to make the building more user friendly, safe and modern. We now have the opportunity to make this happen and we are pleased to announce that we have secured substantial external funding from a range of sources to start building work from the 30th April. The result of this will that from September 2018 we will have a new looking, fit for purpose community centre that will be more versatile, modern and attractive. Of course we want you to be part of that and to continue playing a role in what we do. In short, we don’t want to lose you.
However, the building works will cause unavoidable major disruption to our and your activities. We are going to try and minimise this as much as possible. Below are the dates and areas of the building that will be closed.
Phase 1: The Main Hall will be closed 30th April until the 29th June to allow for a new roof. The remainder of the building will be operational.
Phase 2: The entrance and corridors will be closed from the 2nd July until the 7th August to allow for a new entrance and toilet facilities. Entrance to the building will be accessed from the Main Hall. The Studio and Room 2 will not be operational.
Phase 3: The Cafe Bar, Studio and Room 2 will be closed from the 6th August until the 24th August to allow for refurbishment. The Main Hall and Room One will be operational.
Phase 4 and 5: Certain areas of the building will be closed off and will suffer disruption from the 13th August until the 14th of September due to decorating and external building works.
As stated earlier, the disruption is unavoidable and we understand completely how this will affect your activities. However, the Cluntergate Centre will make every effort to suggest alternative venues for you so that you can continue operating. If you wish to meet individually with our manager, Ralph Dartford, to discuss the building works and its implications, he will be happy to do that as a priority. Ralph will be available this week on Thursday and Friday mornings between 10am and 2pm, or you can email him at rdartford@cluntergate.org.uk.
Yours sincerely,
Ralph Dartford (centre manager) and the trustees
